How do I create a Tomcat user in Simple Control Panel?

For security reasons, there is no default user configured for Tomcat web administration, but you can create a Tomcat user in SSH.

To Create a Tomcat User

  1. Connect to your server via SSH (more info).
  2. Switch to the root user (more info).
  3. Edit the /usr/java/tomcat-5.5/conf/tomcat-users.xml file, for more information on editing files in SSH see the following.
  4. Add an entry by changing the user name and password as appropriate.

    For the changes to take effect, you will need to restart the Tomcat service with the service tomcat55 restart command.
