Comment on this Article

To prove that you control a domain name, Google® lets you use TXT records. TXT records are part of your domain's DNS that don't affect your website. They only display information that can be read by a DNS look up. For more information, see What is DNS?

Before you begin, ensure you have the verification TXT value Google provides.

NOTE: You must use our nameservers to complete these steps. If you use a different set of nameservers, contact those nameservers' administrator for more information.

To Use TXT Records to Verify Your Domain

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. From the My Products section, click Domain Manager.
  3. Click the domain name you want to use.
  4. From the Total DNS section, click Total DNS Control.
  5. In the TXT (Text) section, click Add New TXT Record.
  6. Complete the on-screen fields, and then click OK:
    • TXT Name — Leave this field empty.
    • TXT Value — Enter the entire TXT value Google provides. For example, "google-site-verification: yourtoken".
