What are Express and Certified Appraisals?
If you want to sell a domain, you need to know the value of the domain. You can obtain an Express or Certified Appraisal to provide you with an estimate of the actual market value of your domain.
Express Appraisals use an automated technique to determine the value of your domain. Determining factors include the domain length, number of words, top-level domain extension (.COM, .NET, .ORG, and so on), the use of numbers or dashes, and popularity.
Certified Appraisals use a more in-depth analysis, including current market conditions, to determine the value of a domain. If you want to auction the domain with a starting fee greater than $50,000, you must obtain a Certified Appraisal that appraises the domain at a minimum value of $25,000.
The appraised value is an estimate of the price at which the domain may sell on the open market. There is no guarantee that the domain will be purchased at the appraised value. The appraisal is a general guideline for domain buyers and sellers who may want to use the appraised value as the starting price benchmark for domain auctions and negotiations.
