What are the relay mail server settings on my dedicated or virtual dedicated server?
The Hosting Control Center indicates the mail server you should use to send mail from your server.
To Determine the Mail Server for Your Dedicated or Virtual Dedicated Server
- Log into your Account Manager.
- From the My Products section, click Servers.
- Click Launch next to the virtual dedicated/dedicated server account that you would like to view the mail server for.
- In the Account Summary area, next to SMTP Services your mail server name is displayed.
NOTE: Our dedicated servers have an outbound email limit of 1000 per day. If you need to send more than 1000 emails per day, please call Customer Support or open a support ticket to request a higher limit.
In Linux, Parallels Plesk Panel uses qmail as the default mail server. The configuration file /var/qmail/control/smtproutes needs to have the line :yourmailserver.secureserver.net where yourmailserver is the mail server reported in the Hosting Control Center. The colon is necessary.
In Windows, if Parallels Plesk Panel is installed, MailEnable uses a "smarthost" of yourmailserver.secureserver.net where yourmailserver is the mail server reported in the Hosting Control Center.
For the most part, you do not need to worry about these settings unless something is not working or you want to use a different mail server daemon on your dedicated machine.
NOTE: This is not the relay setting that you would use to set up your email client (like Outlook or Thunderbird). For information about setting up an email account on your dedicated server, see Setting up Email Accounts in Parallels Plesk Panel
