Configuring Filezilla for FTPS Explicit

When using Filezilla, select the FTP over explicit TLS encryption option to secure file transfers.

These instructions do not work with our cPanel shared hosting accounts (more info).

To Configure Filezilla for FTPS Explicit

  1. Open Filezilla.
  2. Click Open the Website Manager.
  3. Click New Website, and then in the My Websites section enter the domain name.
  4. In the Host field, enter the domain name.
  5. From the Encryption list, select Require explicit FTP over TLS.
  6. From the Logon Type list, select Normal.
  7. In the User field, enter your username.
  8. In the Password field, enter your password.
  9. Go to the Transfer Settings tab.
  10. In the Transfer Mode section, select Passive, and then click OK.
  11. To test the connection, click Open the Website Manager, and then select the domain name.
  12. Click Connect, and then click OK.
