Configuring IPs in Plesk with a Hardware Firewall

Follow these instructions to configure IP addresses in Plesk with a hardware firewall. Once you have the IPs configured, you can use a DNS lookup tool to verify your settings.

To Configure IPs in Plesk 10.2 with a Hardware Firewall

  1. Log in to Plesk. For more information, see Logging in to Your Server.
  2. From the Tools & Utilities menu, click IP Addresses.
  3. Click Add IP Address, and then enter the appropriate internal IP address translation matching the recently configured NAT rule of the hardware firewall. For more information, see Configuring Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall NAT Rules and Interfaces.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click Subscriptions.
  6. Click the domain name you need to change.
  7. Click Change Hosting Settings.
  8. Write down the IP you are changing from, and then select the 10.0.0.x address from the IP drop-down list.
  9. Click OK.
  10. From the left side bar, click Domains.
  11. Click Open Control Panel to the right of the domain name you want to update.
  12. Click Websites & Domains.
  13. Click DNS Settings.
  14. Replace all instances of the 10.0.0.x address with the IP address you previously wrote down.
  15. Click Update.

To Configure IPs in Plesk 10.4.4 & 11 with a Hardware Firewall

  1. Log in to Plesk. For more information, see Logging in to Your Server.
  2. From the Server tab, click IP Addresses.
  3. Click Add IP Address, and then enter the appropriate internal IP address translation matching the recently configured NAT rule of the hardware firewall. For more information, see Configuring Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall NAT Rules and Interfaces.
  4. If you are using this IP for an SSL, select Dedicated; otherwise, select Shared.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Websites & Domains, and then click Web hosting Access.
  7. Write down the IP you are changing from, and then select the 10.0.0.x address from the IP drop-down list.
  8. Click OK.

    If your DNS is not hosted on this server, the IP configuration is now complete. If you are hosting DNS on this server, continue with these steps.

  9. Click DNS Settings and replace all instances of the 10.0.0.x address with the IP address you previously wrote down.
  10. Click Update.
