Managing Your Guestbook in Website Tonight
Website Tonight® lets you add a guestbook to your website. To add a guestbook, you must have an available Web page in your Website Tonight account. A guestbook is a Web page where visitors can comment on your Website content, or just say hello. You can set entries to require approval or to display immediately. You can also modify your guestbook colors to compliment the look and feel of your website.
Adding a Guestbook
Adding a guestbook to an unused Web page in your Website Tonight account creates a place where visitors can comment on your Website content, or just say hello.
To Add a Guestbook
- Log in to your Website Tonight account.
- From the Home page, click Guestbook. The Manage Guestbook window displays in the Page Designer.
- Double click the guestbook preview. The Manage Guestbook window displays.
- From the Settings tab, enter the following information:
- Guestbook Name — A name your guestbook displays.
- Email Address — An email address to receive notifications.
- Approval Types for New Comments — Select Manual to manually approve comments, Automatic to let visitors post comments without approval, and Send email notification when a new comment is added to receive email message when there are comments awaiting approval.
- Number of Entries Per Page — The maximum number of comments that display on the Web page.
- Profanity Filter — Select Use profanity filter to activate the profanity filter, and then enter the profane words you want to filter or click Use Default List to enter a list of common profanity. In the Replace with field, enter a term to replace profanity, such as "****"
- Click Apply
- From the Display tab, select colors for the design elements of your guestbook.
- Click Apply, and then click OK.
- The guestbook displays on your Web page.
Editing a Guestbook
Once you set up and configure your guestbook, you can edit it at any time.
To Edit a Guestbook
- Log in to your Website Tonight account.
- From the Home page, click Guestbook. The Manage Guestbook window displays in the Page Designer.
- Click Activate Guestbook. The guestbook preview displays.
- Double click the guestbook preview. The Manage Guestbook window displays.
- Edit your guestbook, and then click Apply.
- Click OK.
- Your guestbook displays the changes.
Deleting a Guestbook
When you no longer want to display a guestbook, you can easily delete it. This allows you to use the Web page where your guestbook displayed for another purpose.
To Delete a Guestbook
- Log in to your Website Tonight account.
- From the Home page, click Guestbook. The Manage Guestbook window displays in the Page Designer.
- From the Settings tab, click Deactivate Guestbook, and then in the confirmation window click OK.
- The guestbook removes from your Web page.
