SSL Certificate Renewal - Microsoft IIS 7

To renew your SSL certificate for an IIS 7 Web server, generate a new certificate signing request (CSR) to submit when you request the renewal in your account. After your renewed certificate is issued, download it from your account and install it on your server. For more information, see Downloading an SSL Certificate.

NOTE: If you originally requested your certificate with a bit length of 1024, you need to generate a new Certificate Signing Request (CSR). For more information on generating a new CSR, see Generating a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) - Microsoft IIS7.

You can also download the intermediate certificates from the repository.

To Generate a Renewal CSR

  1. From the Start menu, go to Administrative Tools and click Internet Information Services.
  2. In the left panel, click the server name for the certificate you want to renew.
  3. Double-click Server Certificates.
  4. Right-click the certificate, and click Renew. The Renew an Existing Certificate wizard displays.
  5. Select Create a renewal certificate request.
  6. Enter a location and file name for the CSR.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Open the generated CSR file, and copy all of the text.

You can paste the text into a simple text editor, such as Notepad, while you log in to your account. See Renewing Your SSL Certificate to request a renewal in your account.
