About Search Engine Visibility Reports

About the Competitor Ranking Report

The Search Engine Visibility Competitors report lets you check your and your competitors' Web page's search engine rankings. This report lets you compare your current search engine performance with that of your direct competitors.

If the report reveals that competitor Websites/pages outrank yours, consider taking a closer look at those Websites. Pay particular attention to the Title tags, page copy and back links. Keep in mind that the reported rankings are likely to fluctuate over time as search engines shuffle and add to their indices and competitors optimize their website content.

About the Inbound Links Report

The Internet's top search engines incorporate link analysis into their ranking algorithms, so your Web page's back links (inbound links) directly affect the page's search engine ranking. The Search Engine Visibility Inbound Links report lets you determine how many links point to your Web page, and where those links originate from.

Knowing a Web page's link popularity is an essential element of a successful search engine optimization campaign. Keep in mind that not all links are created equal. Link quality, rather than quantity, is the key to top search engine rankings for your website pages. A limited number of back links from highly-rated and topically related websites will have a relatively larger impact on your search engine ranking than a large number of inbound links from lowly and/or unrelated origins.

To Use the Inbound Links Report

  1. From the Reports menu, select Inbound Links.
  2. Click Run to update the report.
  3. Click the link count number to view a list of links for each search engine.

About the Keyword Ranking Report

Search Engine Visibility's Keyword Ranking report lets you check your Web page's search engine ranking for a specific keyword. You can check your keyword ranking with several of the Internet's top search engines. If your page is ranked in the top 1000 search engine results for that keyword, the Keyword Ranking report will display your current ranking.

NOTE: In order for your Website to get significan't search engine-generated traffic, it must rank in the top 10-20 results for the keywords it is optimized for.

To Use the Keyword Ranking Report

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Click Search Engine Visibility.
  3. Click Launch for the account you want to work with.
The Search Engine Visibility Manager opens.
  4. From the Reports menu, select Keyword Ranking.
  5. Click Update to update the report.
  6. Click the About link associated with a keywords count to view the details.

If your Search Engine Visibility keyword search does not return any results, try additional keywords using these guidelines:

  • Use words that best describe your business, including alternate spelling styles and synonyms.
  • Refine your terms to eliminate or reduce the use of general or vague terms. Use more specific and descriptive words or phrases instead.
  • Combine some of your existing keywords to create additional phrases.

About the Listing Status Report

The Search Engine Visibility Listing Status report lets you verify that the Internet's leading search engines and directories have added your Web page to their indices. The Listing Status report analyzes your website's current search engine saturation, which is the number of pages from your Website's domain currently indexed by a search engine.

NOTE: Turnaround times can exceed two months and none of the search engines guarantee that submitted content is indexed. If your page is not listed, consult the Submissions report to check the submission date and status. You can try to resubmit to engines and directories that do not list your page.

To Use the Listing Status Report

  1. From the Reports menu, select Listing Status.
  2. Click Run or Update to queue the report.
  3. If you want to view this report monthly, select Email me a Search Engine Listing report monthly.

The Listing Status report can only be run once every 15 days.

About the Page Rank Report

The Search Engine Visibility Page Rank report lets you assess the importance and performance of your Web page as seen by top search engines Alexa and Google. Google's assessment of a Web page's overall importance is reflected in the so-called PageRank, which ranks the page on a scale from 0 to 10. The higher the number, the more important Google considers the page.

Web pages that hold a PageRank of 7 or higher are likely to obtain high Google rankings for keywords. The Google PageRank is perhaps the single most important element in Google's complex ranking algorithm.

The Alexa Traffic Rank is based on three months of aggregated historical traffic data from millions of Alexa Toolbar users and is a combined measure of page views and users (reach).
