How do I access my Web site's code to paste my new tags?

To add the new tags to your website's code, you need to edit your website's HTML files. There are many ways to access and update your website files, so we provide a general method here.

Create backup files of anything you plan to edit prior to making any changes.

To Edit your website's Code

  1. Download your current HTML files to your computer.
  2. Open the .html file you want to edit with your preferred text editor. Some popular choices are Notepad, Text Wrangler, or DreamWeaver.
  3. Paste the tags where you want them in the file.
  4. Save your new .html files, and then upload them to your hosting Website using the FTP client of your choice.
