Accessing Log Files in Website Analytics
If you use our hosting with Website Analytics, you can download a copy of your archived log files. Website Analytics uses the log files in conjunction with optional real-time stats to generate reports for your website.
Site Analytics makes the raw data contained in your log files available for viewing or download. You can access these files through the Logs menu where you will find the most recent log files in addition to zipped archives.
To Access Your Log Files
- Log in to your Account Manager.
- In the My Product section, select Site Analytics.
- Click Launch for the account you want to work with.
- Click the domain name you want to use.
- Go to the Log Files tab.
- Click the log file you want to download. Monthly collections of log files are available in files named
archive_YEAR_MONTH.zip
.
How it works
Site Analytics tracks your website's visitors through log files from your hosting account or, if you activate it, Real Time Stats JavaScript. For more information, see Enabling Real Time Stats in Website Analytics.
Log files provide information about your website's visitors, including page errors, broken links, and bandwidth usage. Your Website Analytics reports are updated daily with the log file data.
Real Time Stats JavaScript provides real-time information about your visitors, including which pages they visit and where they click — this information lets us generate HeatMaps of your pages. Heat Maps are graphic representations of your visitors clicks on your website. For more information, see Site Analytics Page Reports. Unlike the information from your log files, Real Time Stats information updates your reports in minutes.
To get the most information about your website's visitors, use Real Time Stats JavaScript with one of our hosting accounts.
