Avoid Downtime During Your Data Center Migration

Check your domain's TTL values

Your domain's TTL values determine how frequently your DNS records get updated. Lower values mean your DNS gets updated more quickly — which means if you make changes to where your website or email are hosted, they take effect more quickly.

If your domain name's DNS records have a high TTL value, it can cause your Website to go down for an extended period of time during your data center migration.

To make sure this doesn't happen to you, check your domain name's TTL values with your domain name registrar (the company where you registered the domain name).

Reduce your Website's size

The larger your Website is, the longer is takes to migrate between data centers. By reducing the size of your Website, you speed up the migration process and reduce any downtime you might encounter.

The simplest way to reduce the size of your Website is to remove any unnecessary files, like unused images or cached files.
