Change My IP Address

If you want to change the IP address your domain name uses, you can edit its "A records." The domain's A records simply point your domain name to an IP address of a server on the internet.

  1. Access your DNS Manager.
  2. Find the A (Host) section.
  3. Follow one of the following sets of instructions depending on whether you want to change your domain name's website or a subdomain:

Your domain's website

  1. In the row with the Host value of @, click the row's Points to value.
  2. Enter the new IP address you want to use.
  3. Click Save Zone File.

A subdomain

  1. In the row with the Host value of the subdomain you want to use, click the row's Points to value.

For example, if you wanted to edit blog.coolexample.com, you would find the row with the Host value of blog, and then click its Points to value.
  2. Enter the new IP address you want to use.
  3. Click Save Zone File.
