Requirements for Adding Website Analytics to a Subdomain or Non-Primary Hosted Domain
You can set up separate Website Analytics accounts for each subdomain and non-primary domain name you host with us. This means you can track your subdomain or non-primary domain name Websites separately from the primary account they are under. However, this feature has certain requirements in order to work:
A Website Analytics account Set Up for Your Primary Domain Name
Before adding Website Analytics to an aliased domain or non-primary domain, you must affiliate the primary domain with a Website Analytics account. Once you add the primary domain to a Website Analytics account, all aliased domains or non-primary domains are available to add to another Website Analytics account. For more information about adding Website Analytics to your primary domain, see
Setting up Website Analytics.
Accounts Hosted with Us
To use Website Analytics with any subdomain or non-primary domain name, all of the accounts must be hosted with us. Even if your primary account is hosted with us, if your subdomain or non-primary domain is hosted elsewhere, you cannot set it up with a Website Analytics account.
Individual Website Analytics Accounts Set Up for Each Subdomain or Non-Primary Domain Name
You must have a separate Website Analytics account for each subdomain or non-primary domain name you want to track. For more information, see
Adding Website Analytics to a Subdomain or Non-Primary Hosted Domain.
Do Not Use the Primary Account's Root Directory
Your subdomain or non-primary domain name should not point to the root directory of the primary account. While you are not prevented from setting up your hosting accounts this way, Website Analytics does not show these domains in the Add Website list. To work with Website Analytics, you must direct the subdomain or non-primary domain to a specific folder in the primary hosting account. For more information, see
Managing Your Hosting Account Domains.
A Unique Subdomain and Non-Primary Domain Name Path
If you have multiple subdomains or non-primary domain names pointing to the same subdirectory in the primary hosted account, you can only set up one of those domains in a Website Analytics account. To track information for multiple subdomains or non-primary domain names, point each one to a unique directory in the primary hosting account.
Note: For Website Analytics to work on a subdomain or non-primary domain name, you should enable real-time stats. If you ever change the settings on the primary domain name, Website Analytics stops working on the subdomain or non-primary domain names unless real-time stats is enabled.
