Your hosting account has a built-in File Manager you can use to upload files to your hosting account.
To Upload Files Using the File Manager
- Log in to your Account Manager.
- Click Web Hosting.
Click one of the following, based on the type of hosting you have. You can tell this by the second word in your hosting's description beneath your hosting account's domain name, e.g. Deluxe Web correlates to Web/Classic (Hosting Control Panel).
Web/Classic (Hosting Control Panel)
- Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Manage.
- In the Tools section, click File Manager.
- Use the directory tree to select the folder you want to upload the file to.
- Click Upload.
- Select to Add file or Add folder. You can upload up to 250MB at a time.
- Select the file or folder to upload.
- Click Upload.
Linux (cPanel)
NOTE: cPanel's built-in file manager only lets you upload files one at a time. If you need to upload a lot of files (e.g. your whole website), we recommend using FTP (more info).
- Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Manage.
- In the Files section, click File Manager.
- If an option window displays, select the directory you want to open, and then click Go.
- Navigate to the directory where you want to upload the file.
NOTE: cPanel uses
public_html
as the root directory of your primary domain name's website. - Click Choose File, locate the file on your local machine, and then click OK.
- After you upload the files you want, click Back to....
NOTE: You can only upload one file at a time through cPanel. However, you can upload an archived collection of files (e.g. ZIP
) and then extract it.
