Using Menu/Price List Widget in Website Builder v7

NOTE: This article is for Website Builder version 7. Your version displays at the top of the screen when you log in to your Website Builder account. Not using version 7? Search for Website Builder version 6 articles.

The menu widget gives you a simple way to add a menu or price list to your Website Builder Website.

To Add a Menu or Price List That's Already Live

If the menu or price list is already live on a Website, the menu widget can import it into the WSB v7 Website based on the company name and address you entered in Website Settings.

  1. Log in to your Website Builder account.
  2. Click Edit Website.
  3. From the left-hand toolbar, click Apps, and then click Add in the Instant menus and price lists section.
  4. The first time you do this, you'll need to click Get Started, then enter your GoWebsite.com username and password and click Sign In. After that, this step won't be necessary.
  5. Click Start Editing to work on your menu or price list.
  6. When you're done updating, click Save Changes.
  7. Click Back to Website Builder.
I received an e-mail saying my menus are ready to be viewed. Why can't I see them on my linked pages?

After the auto import process is completed, the uploaded price list appears in your dashboard as a hidden price list. This allows you as the account holder to review and approve the content before it's displayed publicly on the web page or linked websites.

After receiving the email notification that your price list has been completed, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Website Builder account.
  2. Click Edit Website.
  3. From the left-hand toolbar, click Apps, and then click Add in the Instant menus and price lists section.
  4. Click Menus.
  5. Review the content of the menu or price list, and then click Unhide Menu.
  6. Click Save Changes and the list will appear on all your linked web pages.

To Convert a Menu or Price List from a File

You can convert a saved menu or price list file to a digital, editable, online file.

  1. Log in to your Website Builder account.
  2. Click Edit Website.
  3. From the left-hand toolbar, click Apps, and then click Add in the Instant menus and price lists section.
  4. Click Upload Menu.
  5. Browse to your file and upload it.

NOTE: It can take a few hours before your file is uploaded and editable.

  6. Click Edit to begin work on your menu or price list.
  7. When you're done updating it, click Save Changes.
  8. Click Back to Website Builder.

To Create a New Menu or Price List

If you don't have a print or Web version of your menu or price list, you can build it from scratch.

  1. Log in to your Website Builder account.
  2. Click Edit Website.
  3. From the left-hand toolbar, click Apps, and then click Add in the Instant menus and price lists section.
  4. Click Create Menu to start from scratch using our template design.
  5. Click any item, description or price to update it.
  6. When you're done updating, click Save Changes.
  7. Click Back to Website Builder.

To Hide or Unhide Your Price Lists

Each menu or price list in your dashboard can be hidden by clicking the Hide Menu button at the top of the list. Hidden price lists are clearly labeled in your list of services along the right side of your dashboard.

Why would I use this functionality?
  • Hide price lists while they're being edited — This lets you create new price lists or menus in your dashboard, and when they're ready to be displayed all you have to do is "unhide" them.
  • Save price lists to be used at a later date — Do you have recurring or cyclical price lists? With the menu widget you can keep store price lists hidden and then easily show them when you like.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on new price lists — You can have administrators log in and edit hidden menus from wherever they are working. You no longer have to be in the same place to work on price lists updates with your colleagues!

Note: When you hide or unhide price lists you must click Save Changes.

To Use Text Mode with Menu Widget

If you would like to manually enter new menus or move whole sections of menu text easily, try out the text mode feature.

Once in text mode, you can see the markup language we use to identify different elements of a menu. This feature lets you make quick changes, edits and additions to your menus. You can also move large sections of your menu by selecting the content you wish to move and then cutting and pasting it into the desired location within your menu.

In the text mode feature, different elements of a menu are defined by text or symbols. By using the markup language in text mode, you can work within your menus faster and more efficiently than adding each item using the visual mode. The text mode key explains what certain symbols represent and how to include them when creating your menu in text mode.

Using Text Mode in Menu Widget

  1. Log in to your Website Builder account.
  2. Click Edit Website.
  3. From the left-hand toolbar, click Apps, and then click Add in the Instant menus and price lists section.
  4. Click Menus, and then click Switch to Text Mode.
  5. Make your menu updates in the text editor, and then click Save Changes.
