Verifying WebsiteLock Domain Ownership
Before WebsiteLock™ can completely scan your Website, you need to verify that you own the domain name you're scanning.
To Verify WebsiteLock Domain Ownership
- Log in to your Account Manager.
- Click SiteLock.
- Next to the WebsiteLock account you want to use, click Launch.
- From the To Do menu (icon shown below), click Click here to complete your setup.
- Select which verification method you want to use:
- Verify domain with meta tag — Insert a meta tag in your index file. For more information, see:
- What file displays when someone browses to my domain name? to find possible names of the files you need to edit.
- Accessing Your Control Panel's File Manager — all of our control panels offer a file editor you can use to insert the meta tag.
- Verify domain with an upload to the root directory — Upload an HTML file to your website's root. For more information, see:
- Verify domain with meta tag — Insert a meta tag in your index file. For more information, see:
- Click Verify.
NOTE: It can take a few hours after you insert the meta tag or upload the file before WebsiteLock recognizes it.
- Click Next Step.
- Select any options you want, and then click Save All Options.
- Click Continue.
