What is a CIRA registrant account for .ca domain names?
CIRA Registrant accounts contain a domain name registrant's information. The account is listed and updated at the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA). Registrant accounts might have multiple .ca domain names attached to them, and the .ca domain name belongs to the registrant account. Any changes registrants make to their registrant accounts impacts the .ca domain names that belong to that account.
For example, if a registrant has eight domain names and updates their registrant account with new contact information, the contact information for all eight domain names is updated.
When customers initiate .ca domain name registrations for the first time, a new registrant account is created for them. Customers must confirm their registrant account before they can complete the .ca domain name registration. See What is the process for registering .ca domain names? for information on registration of .ca domain names and the confirmation of new CIRA registrant accounts.
Some .ca domain name modifications might be done through the CIRA registrant account. If you forgot your CIRA account information, CIRA can email it to the administrative contact listed for the domain name. See Retrieving Your CIRA Account Information for .ca Domain Names for information on retrieving your CIRA registrant account information.
