The .bio domain name can incorporate a number of various industries, including biology, biotechnology, biography and biopics. Because "bio" is such a broad prefix, the .bio extension can support a vast scope of different issues and interests, and is expansive enough to have a strong global presence.
Beginning March 5, 2015 at 10:00 UTC, customers can register .bio domain names on a first-come, first-served basis.

Anyone can register .bio domain names on a first-come, first-served basis.
These domain names can have up to 63 characters, with a minimum of one character, and can contain letters (a to z), numbers (0 to 9), and hyphens (except as the first or last characters of the domain name). You cannot register domain names with special characters such as & and #. IDNs (Internationalized Domain Names) are not supported for .bio domains.
KS Registry is the registry provider and StartingDot is the sponsor for .bio domains.
You can register a .bio domain name for a minimum of one year and a maximum of 10 years.
We'll attempt to auto-renew your .bio domain name on its expiration date. We will park .bio domain names after the first failed billing attempt. If the domain name isn't renewed within 40 days following expiration, the domain name will be cancelled and removed from your account.
