How do I obtain a Domain Authorization Letter?
If we can't verify your domain registration and control via the Whois database (generally because the information in the Whois database can't be found or doesn't match the information in the certificate request), you must provide a Domain Authorization Letter from your domain registrar to document domain registration ownership.
To obtain a Domain Authorization Letter, you must request it from your domain registrar. Consult your registrar for specific instructions. When your letter is sent directly to you, please fax or scan-and-email it to us as proof of domain registration ownership.
If the domain in the certificate request has privacy registration through our Domains By Proxy affiliate, you can request it directly from them. When you request the letter from Domains By Proxy, it will be forwarded directly to us usually within 48 hours of the request.
To Request a Domain Authorization Letter from Domains By Proxy
We have received the following instructions from Domains By Proxy for requesting an authorization letter through your account with them. If you have further questions on the letter generation process or have problems accessing your account with them, contact Domains By Proxy support staff at http://domainsbyproxy.com/Support.aspx.
Before you start have the following information available:
- The domain name being used on the certificate
- The name on the account
- Your Domains By Proxy login ID
- A contact telephone number
- Our name, telephone and fax number
- The order or reference number from us identifying the authorization letter request
- The name of the applicant for the secure certificate
NOTE: Domains By Proxy charges a fee for generation of a Domain Authorization Letter.
- Log into your Domains By Proxy account.
- Click Domain Authorization Letters and provide the information to be used to generate the letter.
