Verify Your Domain by Uploading a File

You can verify that you control the domain name you want WebsiteLock to scan by uploading a file to your website's root directory.

Download the verification file

1. Log in to your GoWebsite account.
2. Click SiteLock.
3. Next to the account you want to use, click Manage.
4. In the Security Summary area, click Domain Verification.
5. Click Option 2.
6. Click Download.

Upload the verification file

1. Determine your website's root directory. If you're using GoWebsite shared hosting, you can use the following articles based on which type of hosting you have:
   • cPanel
   • Plesk
   • Web & Classic
2. Upload the verification file using FTP or your hosting account's control panel:
   • cPanel
   • Plesk
   • Web & Classic

Verify your domain ownership

1. Log in to your GoWebsite account.
2. Click SiteLock.
3. Next to the account you want to use, click Manage.
4. In the Security Summary area, click Domain Verification.
5. Click Option 2.
6. Click Verify.

It can take a few minutes for WebsiteLock to verify your website. If there are any errors, WebsiteLock reports them on this page.
